BrokenLifts.org
For people who use public transport with a wheelchair, push chair or baby carriage, it is the defective elevator that regularly causes nasty surprises when they continue their journey. Getting this information in time is like a traffic jam warning: helpful. It saves time and nerves.
That’s how the idea for “BrokenLifts.org” was born during a hackathon in 2012. In the meantime, we have further professionalized the project through cooperations with the Berlin-Brandenburg Transport Association (VBB), the Berlin Transport Authority (BVG) and the S-Bahn Berlin. With the help of the project office .HENKELHIEDL we developed a portal to provide the elevator failure data of more than 400 elevators on Brokenlifts.org. The result is a useful information service for everyone: simple and clearly arranged – soon to be used beyond the borders of Berlin.
In 2016 the project was awarded the German Mobility Prize.
Our goal is to make BrokenLifts.org available in other cities and regions in the future.
